In your opinion, would you like/dislike a band because it has a female/male singer? Do you think the overall band's music or popularity would make a difference if their songs were sung by a male/female? Which would you prefer when listening or checking out new bands?

Just a topic starter :P

Flyleaf and Paramour (and Evanescence) are good examples :P

But I don't mind the change in vocals, as long they stay in pitch. Otherwise, bands need a new singer (like Panic of the Disco...).
I'm back, but for how long...?

I typically listen to bands with male singers but if the music is good it doesn't matter.

I will listen to anything that sounds good. Even though male singers are pretty much all Metal bands, there are bands with female singers that are the top too, like Lacuna Coil, Nightwish and Arch Enemy.

Haha I like your taste in music.

I'm not sure I quite understand what this topic is asking, but I love both male and female fronted bands. I probably listen to more male vocaled bands, but gender doesn't play a part when deciding if I like the band or not :P I especially like bands when there is both male AND female vocals, like mixed and everything. Battlelore, Leaves Eyes, Diablo Swing Orchestra, After Forever, Tristania, some others that I can't remember off the top of my head :P

Why, thank you. ;D

I will have to agree on that. Heard Á Tout Le Monde of Megadeth? Sounds stupidly good.

I never really got into Megadeth, so I've never listened to that song before :P
But I looked it up on youtube and it was pretty good haha. I liked it.

I listen to both male and female artists. As long as they have a good sound and the music sounds good, I'll listen to it. ^^

Not at all, sometimes I like male/female singers mixed in a band for more of an impact like Eyes Set To Kill with two female singers and one male singer for screams, that's pretty awesome.

But then I like bands like Flyleaf, Garbage, Blondie, Arch Enemy which are all female based singers.

I guess it really varies, but I think these days male singers are more credited than female, more female singers are Classical, Hip-Hop, Rap, Dance people.

Lyrics stand more important to me. The voicing may not interfere with my music taste, just the lyrics and the beat.

For the most part, I detest girl bands. Their lame. WAY. I don't know, I just never liked them. They've never interested me. The vibe of a girl lead singer in a band, its uninviting to me.
Paramore? Plz. Spare me. I hate that band with a passion. It reminds me of the extremely popular stereotype that's developing at an alarming rate. In other words, all the kids that think their bad ass Sh*t for wearing a band shirt.

I tend to listen to more male vocals, mainly because alot of the female vocals start to sound the same to me. Though when a chick has an amazing scream or growling ability that mixes with clean vocals its unique and i love it (The Agonist and In This Moment)
